![]() Upon passing the GED test, they head to basic training and become National Guard soldiers. The program brings recruits in to Camp Robinson, where they live and work while studying for their General Educational Development test. ![]() Once completed, National Guard officials say the annual capacity of the program will triple, allowing for 7,500 recruits to participate in the program each year. The new complex, which is under construction, will house 500 soldiers, with barracks, offices, classrooms, a dining facility and a clinic. ![]() It has been operating out of a small metal building on CampRobinson while waiting for funding for the complex to come through. The National Guard created the GED Plus program in 2006 as a way to recruit guardsmen who historically are not eligible to serve in the armed forces.
